Explore the artist in you while you take a scenic walk in Telok Blangah Hill Park together with NParks' volunteer artist, Mr Tham Pui San. Take home with you sketches of the interesting flora and fauna or the beautiful surroundings in the area. Bring along your sketchbook, pen, pencil, coloured pencil or watercolours and join us in this relaxing activity.

17 Aug (Sat): Coco the Colugo

Through the eyes of Coco the Malayan Colugo, children will embark on a nature adventure, learning about Coco (the Malayan Colugo) and his friends, and about the plants that are useful to both Man and animals which can be found in the forest. They will complete a series of embossing stations during the nature walk as well, and see where their discovery takes them.
This programme is opened only to children between 5 to 8 years old (accompanied by a parent/guardian). They will be given a creative and colourful nature journal, crayons and a beautifully decorated sling bag to take back home after the programme is over.

“Coco and Friends” is a new programme by National Parks Board and HSBC Singapore aiming to promote more understanding and awareness of some of our native biodiversity found in our forests.

Cost: $10 per child (includes Nature Journal, crayons, sling bag)

23 Feb (Sat): Protect Our Pangolins! - Art in Nature

In conjunction with World Pangolin Day, our volunteer leader, Jerome Pang will be sharing and guiding volunteers and participants to develop their art skills while raising awareness on conservation and native biodiversity especially on the world's most trafficked mammal, the pangolin. Participants will need to bring your own art materials.
Suitable for adults with art background. Each session a maximum of 15 people.

26 Jan (Sat): Art and Ecology – Fun Prints with Marine Debris

Join us to explore Singapore’s marine biodiversity through art and science! As part of “Beneath tide, Running forest”, exhibition curator Dr. Wang Ruobing is conducting a workshop where children can create artworks through printmaking. Get ready for a hands-on session in giving marine litter a new lease of life through art, while learning about our natural heritage!

Held in conjunction with International Year of the Reef 2018, the workshop will include a guided exhibition tour by the curator and an introduction to marine biodiversity by NParks. All materials are provided and participants will be able to bring home their artwork.

About the curator: Dr. Wang Ruobing is an artist, curator and researcher based in Singapore. She lectures in McNally School of Fine Art at Lasalle College of the Arts, and had received her Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Oxford. She was previously a curator at National Gallery Singapore. Her research concentrates on environment, identity, hybridity, and transcultural discourses with a special focus on the contemporary art in China and Southeast Asia. In her art practices, Ruobing often uses everyday objects to challenge ways of seeing and comment on the process of knowledge acquisition.
