13 Dec (Sun): Birdwatching at Tampines Wood

for Nature Society (Singapore) members only

Willie Foo conducts this walk. This birdy patch is located behind Tampines Industrial area along Tampines Ave 10. There was once a “Grebe Pond” here with a highest record of 12 grebes. Alas, it has since been drained and given way to development. Visit this woody area before it is completely gone. Interesting species that can be spotted here include the Sooty-headed Bulbul, Red-Whiskered Bulbul, Bee-eaters, Black-shouldered Kite, Pied Triller, Pied Fantail etc. If we are lucky, we can watch mix flocks of munias (Black-headed, White-headed and Scaly-breasted) feeding together.

Time: 7.30am.
Meet at the junction of Tampines Road and Jalan Sam Kongsi. This road is formerly known as “old Tampines Road”.
