In this talk, David Li of Wetlands International, KL, Malaysia will share the status of the Asian Waterbird Census (AWC) in the past 20 years, and its direction for the future (2007-2015). The AWC is the largest biodiversity monitoring programme in the Asia-Pacific region initiated in 1987 within the framework of the International Waterbird Census. To date, more than 6,300 sites in 27 countries have been surveyed, with the active participation of tens of thousands of volunteers.
