This newly opened nature area looks promising, as it has been left quite natural. Old dead trees are not cut down but left as perches for birds. This is a good place for woodpeckers to search for grubs in the abundant dead wood and to make their nest holes. The freshwater marshes and ponds here are well-vegetated, providing viable feeding grounds and safe, hidey homes for wildlife. Care has been taken by NParks to only introduce native trees and shrubs. Our route will go through open grassland, scrubland, secondary forest and marshes.
