In the Gardens, you can easily observe a good diversity of our native wildlife that have adapted to parkland conditions. Here lives Flying Draco, 2 species of monitor lizards, 2 species of squirrels, frogs, toads, and many kinds of birds and insects. The Hill Myna, a globally endangered species, makes its nests in the tall trees here. Singapore’s unofficial National Bird, the Crimson Sunbird, can be seen in this garden. The mature grove of Dipterocarps (giant native rainforest trees) by the marsh garden, are awesome living things to just look and wonder at. If you love ‘pow-pow cha’, we’ll show you the ancient Sago tree which provides the crucial ingredient for this drink.
