Themed "Small Changes, Big Differences", ACRES will be staging a 2-day carnival right in the heart of town to encourage people to lead a more compassionate lifestyle.With our brand-new exhibits, learn about the threats faced by wildlife on our Nature Trail, find out simple ways you can make a difference in our walk-in Cruelty-free Room and have a behind-the-scenes experience with the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Van! Participate in The Body Shop's makeover and stand out in cruelty-free products! Be encouraged to take an active step in making a positive change for the animals by placing a ribbon on our Tree of Compassion.
With exciting performances from a wide spectrum of local bands such as EIC and Plain Sunset, come down and celebrate the cause and make this World Animal Day a meaningful and memorable one for the animals!
Help support ACRES' work by collecting small change from your family, friends and colleagues and join us during the carnival in filling up our Column of Hope! Every small contribution counts!
World Animal Day (WAD) is an international event, commemorated each year on the 4th of October, to celebrate life in all its forms.
ACRES is urgently looking for up to 40 volunteers every hour over this carnival period to help us in our educational and fundraising efforts.
Some areas where help is needed:
- Manning the various exhibits
- Guiding activities (nature trail and cruelty free room)
- Mascots
- Donation tins
- Securing signatures for the "Animals Matter to Me" petition
- Overnight security on the 3rd and 4th of October 2008
- Set up and take down of carnival.
- Preparation for the carnival at ACRES office: folding brochures, preparing donation tins, making new badges
