22 Nov (Sun); Birdwatching at Choa Chu Kang Cemeteries

for Nature Society (Singapore) members only

Alan OwYong leads this walk. The cemeteries at Choa Chu Kang border the Western Live Firing areas and Poyan. These are relatively undisturbed and are excellent birding areas. Open landscapes, scattered trees and shrubs make up most of the habitat here. We will also check out the birdlife inside the Poyan restricted area from the Muslim Cemetery. Birding possibilities include the rare Jerdon’s Baza, Common Buzzard and flocks of Oriental Pratincoles.

Please carpool.

Time: 7.30am, meet at the junction of Path 2 and 13 at the Christian Cemetery. We will drive around the fringes to the Indian, Chinese and Muslim Cemeteries, stopping at vantage points and interesting high ground to look for raptor and passerine migrants.
